In November of 2012 I decided to join professional network/entrepreneurial brain trust.
The rationale was simple, successful people don’t succeed on their own.
There are two parts to the program:
- Monthly interviews with a wide array of brilliant people, masters and advisors that have helped countless people with productivity, health, psychology, and more
- Membership to an exclusive community of ambitious professionals to hold you accountable, encourage you, and help you live a Rich Life
I read as much (or more) than anyone I know, but reading is a time consuming endeavor.
This brain trust provides access to knowledge, wisdom and proven strategies that top performers use to…
- Get more done
- Stay focused
- Earn more money
Below is a video preview and my notes from Gretchen Rubin discussing, among other things, how to be happy for life:
- You’re probably happier than you think. The first step to greater happiness is to acknowledge how happy you are now, then deliberately think about what makes you happy to add more of it.
- Prioritize the important vs. the urgent. (This is something you see all. the. time. but very few of us do it.)
- Give up the fantasy of things you should love for the things you actually love
- What do you lie about?
- Understand when your values and your actions don’t line up
- Whom do you envy?
- Make things you envy a priority to obtain
- What steps can you take to make that happen for you?
- Reading can increase empathy by taking yourself through the mind of others
- When you’re happy you’re more happy about helping other people
- Make sure you schedule leisure time
- Set a quitting time for work
- Feeling “right” is a happiness value even if you don’t feel good
- Example: Commuting so your kids can live in a good school district
- If you like to talk shop at your job/in your career — you’re in the right place
- Top performers persevere consistently. They are clear about what they expect of themselves then schedule it and follow through. They are often perfectionists in a few areas that yield compelling pleasure. They are clear on what needs to be done, how to do it, and why.
- A lack of clarity could be a reason for procrastination
