In November of 2012 I decided to join professional network/entrepreneurial brain trust.
The rationale was simple, successful people don’t succeed on their own.
There are two parts to the program:
- Monthly interviews with a wide array of brilliant people, masters and advisors that have helped countless people with productivity, health, psychology, and more
- Membership to an exclusive community of ambitious professionals to hold you accountable, encourage you, and help you live a Rich Life
I read as much (or more) than anyone I know, but reading is a time consuming endeavor.
This brain trust provides access to knowledge, wisdom and proven strategies that top performers use to…
- Get more done
- Stay focused
- Earn more money
Below is a video preview and my notes from Elizabeth Weil discussing, among other things, how to find work/life balance.
- Don’t stress about where your career will take you.
- Be riskier when you’re young
- There are fewer distractions (no kids, mortgage, etc.)
- Try different things and let them grow and guide what you do later when you’re older
- Optimize for smart people
- Optimize for people you like and to keep learning
- Leave jobs when you learning curve starts to stagnate
- Create a small group of people who will play a pivotal role in your career
- Find somebody interesting and go learn from them
- Optimize for people you like and to keep learning
- Be self aware
- Optimize for learning and new experiences
- Location is incredibly important (statistic on commuting here)
- You’ll have more time (and energy) for other passions
- Regarding motivation, if you don’t feel like doing something, remember that you usually don’t regret what you did when it’s meaningful
- On saying no… “I appreciate the note and I’m flattered. Unfortunately, I’ll have to decline because I’m forcing myself to stay focused on my own projects.”
- Location is incredibly important (statistic on commuting here)
If you’re tired of waiting for “some day” to take your life to the next level you can check out the Brain Trust here.
